History and Background of the Faculty of Science and Technology
The Faculty of Science and Technology Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi was established on June 21 1995 during the tenure of Assoc. Prof. Thamnoon Ridhimanee as the President of Rajamangala Institute of Technology. Initially named the “Faculty of Science” it was founded by integrating the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Science from the Faculty of Liberal Arts. Subsequently the Department of Chemical Industrial Technology and the Department of Computer Technology were transferred from the Faculty of Engineering and Agricultural Technology to the Faculty of Science. This move aimed to advance science and technology—a vital foundation for national development—and to address the shortage of personnel in these fields aligning with urgent national needs and government policies to produce sufficient science and technology manpower for the country’s economic and social growth. In 2006 following the enactment of the Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi Act, the name was changed to the “Faculty of Science and Technology” to better reflect its mission focusing on applied sciences. The faculty produces graduates in the following fields: Mathematics Chemistry Biology Applied Physics Statistics Computer Science, and Information Technology.
